Final Degree Project — Illustration Series (2025)
My master’s thesis is dedicated to the story of Ludwig van Beethoven’s stay in the small town of Głogówek during the autumn of 1806. The project is based on a text by Kinga Markowska — an excerpt from a larger literary work created as part of the “Marszałkowskie Talenty 2025” scholarship program. The narrative is presented in the form of a diary, which helped me approach the illustrations more intuitively and allowed for a more personal interpretation of the events. Initially, I struggled with creating a cohesive visual narrative, but after many hours of designing the spreads, I decided to introduce a unifying element through color. Red became the central motif of the diary. Beethoven’s scarf appearing throughout the book as well as the initials and the endpaper helped tie the entire project together and gave it a consistent visual identity.
